Mission Technologies Integration Press Release

There’s No Hiding from E-BUSTER(Blacklight)™

On August 4, 2009, Mission Technologies, Inc., of San Antonio, TX and ImSAR, Inc., of Salem, UT successfully completed the integration and initial test flight of the E-BUSTER (BLACKLIGHT)™ Small Unmanned Aerial System (SUAS) equipped with a NanoSAR (Nano Synthetic Aperture Radar) payload. During the test flight, excellent radar images were transmitted to the ground station displaying in-flight imagery.

The E-BUSTER (BLACKLIGHT)™ Air Vehicle features interchangeable modular payloads, high resolution sensors, with full pan/tilt/zoom capabilities and the ability to silently glide unnoticed over sensitive targets. Additionally, the E-BUSTER (BLACKLIGHT)™ Air Vehicle has demonstrated flight endurance of 3 hours with rechargeable and 4 ½ hours with disposable batteries, giving the system unmatched time over target in a UAV of this size.

The NanoSAR device weighs 2 pounds, which includes the navigation system, antennas, cabling, real-time processor, and RF front end. While other SAR devices weigh as much as motorcycle engines (50 – 200 lbs), the NanoSAR device meets the size, weight, power consumption and cost requirements for SUAS. The NanoSAR device makes SAR technology available to tactical war-fighters by providing them with immediate actionable intelligence that wins battles and saves lives.

When atmospheric conditions limit the use of Electro Optic/Infrared (EO/IR) sensors, an E-BUSTER (BLACKLIGHT)™ air vehicle equipped with a NanoSAR payload can gather Reconnaissance, Intelligence, Surveillance and Target Acquisition (RISTA) images and data regardless of fog, smoke, rain, sand, light camouflage and night- time conditions.
